VFX Development - Audio Decision

Soundtrack Theme

Personally I believe that audio is going to play a massive role in my short video. Different sounds can create a totally different atmosphere, so I have chosen to take some time to talk about a few different style and a possibly track for each.

Sinister / Dynamic

My first idea is to have something quote sinister and dynamic, highs and lows, softs and louds. Seeing wisps encircle a being and fight for domination would appear as something quite similar. The dynamics in their movement should translate through to audio. If I was to use a song rather than my own creation I would definitely use the track entitled: Neodammerung by Don Davis for 'The Matrix: Revolutions'; this is final epic fight scene between in the movie and is a very dynamic piece. If the audio does not play here is the direct link.

Sinister / Suspense

Secondly I would again use a sinister piece of music, but this time keep it quite level interms of dynamics. Instead I would play with the suspense, let the viewer sit on the edge of their seat waiting for something to happen. Using this I would definitely use some establishing static shocks to really drag with suspense to the limits. If I don't create my own piece for this I would instead use the song 'Sail - Awolnation', sometimes I think of my ideas while this music is playing and it fits, perfectly. If the audio does not play here is the direct link.

Tranquil / Eerie
Thirdly, I would move towards a more calm and tranquil sound. Something that makes the viewer listen and watch and before they know the video is over, the sound is so captivating you don't even realise what you've just watched. This leaves the desire to watch it again and really watch for detail and depth to the story of the video. Personally I think creating my own sound would be easier for this but if I was going to use and audio track then "" would be my chosen one, but I wouldn't take it from the beginning I would take it from where the main melody comes in to play around 0:40. If the audio does not play here is the direct link.

Abstract / Noisy
Finally, if I wanted to go really abstract with my whole piece (which is kinda of fitting since this is what I am trying to demonstrate in the video). I would go for a sound that had a lot of white noise in it, no distinguishable melody of sorts, if I were to do it my self I would have it flow with the wisps, having the dynamics follow them. Some sort of ambient background noise the fill the low will be important, I don't want the sound become irritating. Alternatively the track I would use otherwise would be one I found on YouTube called Ambient Noise/Industrial. I personally love this sound, it has this almost ear piercing screech that makes you want cower, you could create something very sinister with music; I hope to use it in the future. If the audio does not play here is the direct link.

Sound FX

Wisps
Personally I don't think the wisps need to make much sound at all, if any. I think the music is going to play too much a role and I don't want to take attention away from it with small distracting noises here and there. If I can make a sound that moulds well with the music then I would definitely use it. The best sound I have right now was created by my flat mate who is under-graduate sound engineer. If the audio does not play here is the direct link.

Actress
Lastly the actress won't create any noise at al. I don't see any kind of sound that she could make accept for footsteps. Which once again I do not want to take attention away from the sound, also her feet will be slow moving on soft flooring so I doubt they would make any sound at all.
